Tutto è momentaneo e provvisorio, e i programmi possono scomparire in qualsiasi momento.

My Love Affair With Marriage – Hollywood Podcast Interview

    https://open.spotify.com/show/7HDX3s7fe1xpPyHpeZ4Bf5

For this week, I am joined by composer Kristian Sensini, who scored Signe Baumane new award-winning animated feature film. My love affair with marriage, the film had its world premiere at last year’s
Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated last year at the European Film Awards for best animated
feature. It follows Zalma on her 23-year quest for perfect love and lasting marriage set against
the backdrop of several historic events throughout Eastern Europe. It’s told from a female
perspective and it blends historical, scientific, societal and emotional arcs with musical numbers
composed by Kristian himself as well as a sense of humor dealing with issues like love, gender
norms, fantasies and toxic relationships among many other things.

Kristian, thank you for joining me today.

I appreciate it. You’re welcome, thank you.

So I want to start at the beginning of your involvement with my love affair with marriage. I know that the film has been years in the making dating back to 2015 when Signe began drafting the script. Can you share how you came on board to the project and what was that first conversation you had with Signe about “My love affair with marriage” that made you want to join her on this journey?

Signe and I collaborated on a film years ago called “Rocks in my Pockets.” It was an animated feature movie. Over the years, we’ve kept in touch, and in 2016 Signe reached out to me via email. She informed me that she was working on a new film and sent me the script. Without even reading it, I immediately agreed to be a part of it because our previous collaboration had been so enjoyable and rewarding. I expressed my eagerness to work with her again. Afterward, I read the script and discovered that it was a musical. To my delight, the director had already written some songs for it. This revelation was particularly exciting for me since I have a background in musical theater. Having the opportunity to collaborate once more on an animated musical film was a remarkable chance for a composer like myself.

I’m glad you mentioned Rocks in My Pockets because this isn’t the first time you’ve
worked with Signe. You worked with her on that film as well where she made her animated
feature debut. How was working together different on My love affair with marriage? I would imagine
working on this film. You guys had maybe a shorthand that made working together easier since you
    had already worked before.

Honestly, initially, our collaboration was quite smooth because I resided in Italy while Signe was based in New York, placing us in different time zones. This meant that while she slept, it was daytime for me, allowing me to work. When we exchanged demos and ideas via email, the process flowed seamlessly. Thanks to the time difference, I would wake up to find feedback from the director in my inbox, and when Signe woke up in New York, she would receive the corrected files from me. This workflow proved effective not only during our first project but also in this second movie.

Our initial focus was on the songs, which made the process relatively easy. Signe, despite not being a musician herself, has a deep appreciation for music and possesses an incredible musical ear. She had already written the lyrics for the songs and needed them to animate the lip-syncing of the characters even before to begin drawing them. This task was smooth sailing, as I didn’t encounter a single song that didn’t resonate with me, and the creative flow was swift and harmonious from both sides.

However, when we moved on to scoring the film itself, which occurred four years after the songs were written, we faced challenges in finding the right palette of sounds and orchestrations for specific cues. One of the movie’s characters is the biology itself, portrayed by a female voice, and we struggled to score the scenes involving this character. In both “Rocks in my Pockets” and this current movie, we have numerous voiceovers, with voice actors singing, speaking, or narrating throughout. Balancing the music to enhance the voices without overshadowing the dialogues proved to be a delicate task. While it was relatively straightforward in the first movie, we encountered difficulties with the biology character in this one.

For the biology scenes, I sent the director around 10 to 12 different cues that I had composed for the same scene. Unfortunately, Signe wasn’t satisfied with any of them, which caused me to panic. I began to doubt my abilities and feared that we had lost our connection, failing to understand each other as we had in the first movie. However, Signe proposed a new approach. She suggested using percussion instruments instead of orchestral instruments since the biology character had no association with documentary-style music. This idea immediately clicked, and from that point on, our work progressed rapidly and effortlessly. We successfully scored all the cues involving the biology character using percussion instruments, an unconventional choice that turned out to be remarkably effective.

And it obviously worked despite the roller coaster you experienced of feeling like you weren’t necessarily connected earlier on. You mentioned that Signe was the lyricist in addition to being the the director of the film, can you share that process? How was like working with Signe not just as the director but as the lyricist?

She is truly an incredible artist. Her creativity knows no bounds, especially considering she had never written songs before. The songs in the script were like short, poetic verses, almost like concise pieces of art. English is not Signe’s first language, as she is Latvian, and in my opinion, this aspect greatly contributed to the overall process of writing the lyrics. They are refreshingly original, clever, and distinct from any other songs I have worked on. They are meant to be sung, but they are concise, resembling short poems. It was a smooth process because, as you mentioned, Signe hadn’t written lyrics for “Rocks in my Pockets.” So her venture into songwriting for “My Love Affair with Marriage,” for which I composed the music, added a whole new dimension to our working relationship.

Now, shifting gears, let’s discuss the inspiration behind the music in this film.

When writing music for a movie, my inspiration primarily comes from the film itself. The better the movie, the easier it is to compose music that complements it seamlessly. However, I also drew some inspiration from the background of the story, which is set in Eastern Europe. I incorporated certain instruments, melodies, and scales that evoke the essence of the region. It’s not ethnic music per se, as I prefer not to work in a strictly traditional manner, but rather, I aimed to capture the essence of Eastern European music and the style of composers from the last century.

As for the songs, I closely followed the flow of the lyrics and adopted specific styles for each song. You can hear elements of gospel, jazz, rhythm and blues reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, rock tunes, and even some songs with a more fantastical flair, featuring classical instruments. Overall, in collaboration with Signe, we coined the term “jazzy folk” to describe these styles. While they incorporate elements of jazz, such as harmonies, rhythms, and melodies, they also delve deep into the realm of folk music. So, together, we set out to create a collection of jazzy folk songs.

As we touched on before the film deals with some with several themes such as you know domestic violence and gender norms and love and the woman’s journey towards liberation and independence. Can you talk about how these themes will influence your work and how they was incorporated into the music?

Initially, it was challenging to approach the sensitive topics in the film because Signe, being the director and writer, drew inspiration from her own life experiences. The first movie delved into the struggles of depression, exploring the stories of the protagonist, her family, and their battles with mental health. In this case, the film revolves around love and marriage, incorporating real stories from Signe’s life. Dealing with such genuine and personal narratives can be daunting, as it requires handling delicate material with utmost care. I wanted to ensure that I respected the integrity of the stories and didn’t diminish their impact.

However, Signe’s writing approach made the process easier. She infused her stories with passion and humor, allowing for a more lighthearted perspective. While the stories were based on real experiences, Signe’s self-deprecating humor added a unique touch. This approach made it easier to work on these sensitive topics because it struck a balance between authenticity and levity. I aimed to reflect this blend in the music itself, drawing inspiration from the films of Federico Fellini. As an Italian, I grew up watching Fellini’s movies, which are comedies that explore the tragic aspects of life with a touch of humor. Nino Rota’s music for Fellini’s films exemplifies this quality, enhancing the enjoyment of the stories while addressing profound themes.

Well, congratulations! I’m well aware that this film has been a labor of love for years, and finally seeing it released worldwide must be incredibly fulfilling. I want to express my gratitude to you, Christian, for taking the time to talk abou it. Currently, the film is playing in limited theaters here in the US, and I hope people have the opportunity to watch and enjoy it.

Thank you once again for inviting me to your podcast. I truly appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences. And to all the listeners, thank you for tuning in.

    Composizione, Cinema e Salute Mentale

    https://www.cmuse.org/seven-composers-and-their-mental-illnesses/

FEATURE | It’s Time To Talk About Classical Music’s Mental Health Problem

Anxieties and Depression Disorders in Composers’

    Mental Health and Film Composers

    Health And Wellbeing

    https://timothy-mann.com/blog/2020/2/17/rbv6kw2vmdask3xf7lsotoizvfyrd2

È importante categorizzare i file e pianificare in anticipo.

Composers and Mental Health

Hello everyone, it’s been a long time since I wanted to delve into this important topic concerning mental health, especially for us composers who work in such a creative yet stressful field. Finally, today I’ve decided to dedicate the right time and space to discuss a topic that is very dear to me and that I believe deserves more attention and awareness, especially in Italy.

As you know, this day is dedicated to the prevention of mental illnesses, and I believe there is no better time to talk openly about it. My intention is to shed light on the existing connection between psychological well-being, the compositional process, and the world of cinema. Before delving into the topic, I want to share some interesting studies and research that I’ve saved on my tablet to provide you with an initial overview of the issues we will address.

I don’t want to claim that all musicians and composers are to be considered “a bit crazy,” but the history of music presents us with numerous examples of great artists who have had to deal with disorders such as depression. Think of Mussorgsky, Berlioz, and Skrjabin, just to name a few; unfortunately, the list is much longer.

    https://www.cmuse.org/seven-composers-and-their-mental-illnesses/

The point I want to emphasize is not about the label of the “eccentric composer” but rather a greater awareness of the particular sensitivity that distinguishes those who decide to pursue a career in the arts.

FEATURE | It’s Time To Talk About Classical Music’s Mental Health Problem

As a general premise, I would like to emphasize that (especially in Italy), we still talk too little about mental health, almost exclusively limiting it to news stories or emergencies. In our country, we tend to consider common issues as exceptions. If we paid the necessary attention to this important topic and normalized it as we do with dental hygiene or regular medical check-ups, we would undoubtedly benefit greatly.

Years ago, due to work-related stress, I experienced some significant revelations. I realized that we all have our weaknesses, and there is no shame in acknowledging them. I used to believe that stress was manageable and even productive, to the point of boasting about my limited hours of sleep and constant commitment. Unfortunately, this misconception, which is also common among many colleagues, especially on social media, only fuels a harmful myth that seriously harms our health.

I truly hope that many can endure the negative effects of stress for a long time. However, sooner or later, we will have to come to terms with our vulnerabilities, which manifest not only through psychological imbalances but also minor physical disorders, often underestimated in our society.

Now I want to share some interesting articles that have emerged in recent years, exploring topics such as “Anxiety and Depression Disorders in Composers” and “Mental Health of Film Composers.”

Anxieties and Depression Disorders in Composers’

    Mental Health and Film Composers

According to reliable statistics, composers of music for cinema are ten times more likely to suffer from anxiety and three times more likely to have sleep disorders compared to other professions.

The Australian Guild of Film Composers has conducted research to better understand the causes of this vulnerability. Among the factors identified are often low and irregular income, little job stability, a highly competitive environment, and the impostor syndrome, so common in our industry. Not to mention the constant pressure related to tight deadlines and the fear of rejection.

    Health And Wellbeing

In short, the profession of a composer is not just about being brilliant but also about being ready for opportunities and effectively managing stress.

We must be aware of our weaknesses and avoid being ashamed of them because mental health concerns everyone and does not indicate any personal fragility. If we feel in difficulty, speaking openly with friends, family, or an expert can be truly valuable. I hope that this reflection can help normalize a still too taboo topic, especially in Italy.

In the following article, practical advice is also provided:

    https://shesaid-so.medium.com/top-ten-tips-for-self-care-as-a-media-composer-e4ae627467b1

    1. “Play Instruments”
Play the piano, play the guitar, join a choir, play with friends, play alone. No matter what, we must play. It’s important to keep our skills up and remember to enjoy music. It doesn’t have to be just work; it can also be playtime.

    2. “Awareness”
Being aware of oneself and others is an incredibly helpful skill. It’s worth reminding ourselves that we are human, and people are different. Not everyone will react the same way to things. Being actively conscious of this can make us more confident, proactive, and positive.

    3. “Pilates”
Mental and physical health is a top priority. Eating well, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep are essential. Regular exercise and attention to posture are also important.

    4. “Outdoor Time”
We should try to get fresh air every day, even if it’s just taking out the trash. In a freelance career, we often take advantage of working all hours because we can and because we love our jobs. But we have to remember the positive effects of stepping outside in the fresh air.

    5. “Dress Up to Go to Work”
Even if we work from home, dressing instead of staying in pajamas can have a positive effect on productivity. It makes us feel like we are going to work and can make it easier to go outdoors.

    6. “Be Organized”
Being organized in every aspect of life can greatly help with productivity. We should plan our days, separate time for emails, time without emails, and dedicated time for composing. Categorizing files and thinking ahead are also important.

    7. “It’s OK to Ask for Help”
We must reach out for advice if we need it. Whether we have writer’s block or need help with something, we must not be afraid to talk to people.

    8. “Get a Routine and Be Focused”
Creating habits can free up mental space for creativity. Being focused can be facilitated by making notes on what’s cluttering our minds.

    9. “Understand Structuring Downtime”
After a project, it’s important to plan downtime to avoid burnout. Taking a break, going on a holiday, or spending time with friends and family is essential for recharging.

    10. “Prosperity Instead of Scarcity”
We shouldn’t compare ourselves to other composers. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and enters the world of media composition in different ways. Collaboration and growth can result from embracing these differences.

In summary, these tips emphasize the importance of self-care, awareness, organization, and seeking help when needed. They also promote the importance of balancing work with leisure and avoiding comparison with others to foster collaboration and personal growth.

Here is another article from PRS, the practice of Music and its enjoyment can certainly alleviate stress, a different story for those who decide to pursue a musical career:

“Unseen films” Interview “My Love Affair With Marriage”

    http://www.unseenfilms.net/2023/10/signe-baumane-talks-about-her-film-my.html

UNSEEN: I’m in awe of the music. When you wrote the script did you have all the songs done? I know you wrote the lyrics and Kristian Sensini wrote the music. But the songs drive the film, and they are Broadway quality…and the one thing I was thinking when it was done was that this was great, that you could put this on a Broadway stage…

SIGNE: Really? I was thinking the same. I was think that when we released the film we had to go on Broadway.

UNSEEN: No it’s in my review which you haven’t see because of the embargo, but I was think the film ends and the door open and that is just such a Broadway moment, the moment everyone screams and yells and leaps to their feet and cheers and I’m like “oh my god this is Broadway musical”, it has to go to Broadway

SIGNE; I’m glad you’re saying that. Yea of course I don’t have any idea how to put it on Broadway but maybe somebody sees it and understands it and understands what you understood.

Let me talk a little bit about the music. The music, the songs, the score and everything were written by this very very talented composed in Italy Kristian Sensini and I worked with him on my previous animated film ROCKS IN MY POCKET and I thought he was very talented but I didn’t know if he could write songs. So when I wrote the script I put 33 songs in the script, I wrote the lyrics and all that. And I sent him the script and I asked him if would be able to write these songs. And he looked at it and said yea, no problem. And so he wrote these songs and I was just amazed at how he was able to do that because it’s a special talent to do that. And he has the ability to do as you say the Broadway, the comedy the lightness, the darkness so he’s a very versatile composer.

And then after the film was done he wrote the score and I’m very happy with the score for the biology part, I feel that its very moody mysterious, the kind of a drumbeat and I’m very happy about that discovery. So yea Kristian Sensini’s song writing is really an essentially part of the film. I don’t know how, I can not imagine the film to be with out his particular sensibility in music.

UNSEEN: It drives the film. It wouldn’t work without it. I mean that in a good way. It’s clearly your film but you brought in this wonderful composer and a killer voice cast. It’s a beautiful beautiful film and if you pulled any of it out it wouldn’t work. If you pulled the songs out it wouldn’t work. You hit everything perfectly.

SIGNE: And the end credits song, we wrote that at the end, when the film was done and I told him I need a three and a half minute song and he said send me the lyrics and I sent him like three pages of lyrics and he sent it back to me and said this is shit I can not write a song to that. So we are true collaborators,it had to be together, the words and music have to come together. And he was really crucial that he really pushed myself together to write lyrics that he could work with. And then Storm Large, I don’t know if you know her work, she’s this amazing singer. I hear the song and it blows me away, the power of her voice.

How much does it cost to be a composer?

Today I want to talk to you about how much it costs to be a soundtrack composer and, as you will soon see, it is a nice dive into reality because we are talking about a profession that is not only a source of income but is also accompanied by a whole series of costs that must be supported.

To clarify the topic, I will talk to you specifically about the more or less fixed or recurring expenses which are strictly related to the various digital services necessary for the profession.

The first of these tools is Google One. Google One is Google’s paid suite that allows you to get more storage space to store your data on Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos compared to the 15 GB of storage offered free by Google to all its users. Google Oneit costs €1.99/month (€24/year) and offers 100 GB of storage space. Why did I personally decide to buy this expansion? Not so much to have more space on Google Drive but to have more dedicated to emails which are the main tool I use for work when exchanging files with directors, producers and editors. So you understand that it is necessary for me to also have an archive of the online history of the conversations that took place as well as all the attachments.

Cubase is added to Google One , a software for composers that covers all phases of music production: from composition to mastering. The basic cost of Cubase is €570 but it is a cost that I don’t put in my budget because once purchased it remains yours for life. The cost to budget, however, is that relating to its upgrades which usually come out once a year and cost around €100. So it must be taken into account that to have the latest version of Cubase every year we have to spend €100 and we must have it because each upgrade brings notable improvements that simplify and speed up our work. So to the €24/year of Google One we add the €100/year of Cubase and we have a total cost of €124/year.

Another program to purchase is Dorico , a musical notation program that I use a lot when I compose. Here too the situation is the same, the purchase base is €570 with annual updates of €100 which, added to the previous calculated costs, give us an annual total of €224.

Now let’s get to SoundCloudwhich is the platform (free or paid) that allows us to upload our musical creations and stream them. Even if it’s not exactly cheap, I think it’s very useful because many Music Supervisors frequent it and can create playlists in which to include our songs and embed them (which they couldn’t do if they were only uploaded to our site). This way our music has the chance to reach many more people and in key places in film production and recording, so I recommend it. You can also create your own playlists where you can add/delete songs, see which are the most listened to and have other options such as 3-4 mastering of songs carried out per month. Mainly I use this platform to upload my archive to listen to or to create playlists for directors to send the link to so they can listen to them anywhere. Service basic SoundCloud is free and allows you to upload a total of 2 hours of music, but you understand that for those who are not just starting out but have a broader repertoire, these are insufficient . To overcome the problem, the paid version is available which offers unlimited playing time at a cost of €8.25/month (€99/year), so our total costs reach €324/year.

To manage the website, then, we will need WordPress whose basic version (which is a blog ” name”.wordpress.com ) is free, but by spending €4/month (€48/year) you can get a domain personal (“name”.com ). I advise you to always have your own personalized site and I believe that WordPress is the most economical and practical solution you can have available. And so our overall costs rise to €372/year. WordPress is obviously the cheapest solution but there are also others . Personally, I switched from WordPress to Aruba(always a WordPress system), then I uploaded the WordPress software to Aruba servers. Why did I make this choice?

    1. In this way I obtained an additional personal email ( info @ kristiansensini.com ) which gives a certain professionalism.
    2. On the WordPress blog I couldn’t upload very large files since there is a size limit which is no longer applicable with Aruba .

Let’s then talk about IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base ) whose Pro version costs € 135 / year. It’s the place you need to be! abroad if you are not on IMDB you don’t exist, you are not cinema professionals! So try to work first of all to get credits on IMDB , make sure that the small or large works you do are listed on this site which is the absolute container of especially American cinema. The annual fee of €135/year for IMBD Proit allows you to manage your account by posting photos, to be able to freely update your CV and everything related to your business, to insert short showreels (even if not of very high quality). Adding this amount too we arrive at a total cost of €507/year.

Other costs are (for italian composers) those connected to the SIAE in which it is essential to be present because it is a collecting society that collects copyright royalties for us. The cost of annual membership to the SIAE is €150, a cost which, however, could also be eliminated when the royalties collected equal it in amount. If this were not the case, however, this cost would be added to all the previous ones, reaching a total of €657/year.

Furthermore, I am part of at least a couple of associations, one of which is the Acmf (Association of film music composers ) whose cost of registration as a supporting member is €150. You can go to their website (http://www.acmf.it/ ) to check the various fees available since you can also participate in the association as members with different costs. I highly recommend you take part in it because it helps us fight small battles that as composers are fundamental for us.

Another American association to which I am a member is the Scl ( S ociety of C omposers & L yricists ) whose cost is €58 (€208/year) which added to the previous costs leads to a total total of €865/year .

We now come to the costs associated with the accountant , taking into account that the figures I will tell you about may vary based on the place where you live and where the accountant closest to you is located, as well as the type of procedures he has to carry out, etc. Taking into account my management (for a composer an accountant doesn’t have to do much in reality, the necessary procedures don’t require long times) I calculate around €600/year which, added to the other costs, brings us to €1465/year.

Another fundamental component is the energy necessary for the functioning of our machines, for the tools and especially for the workstation which also consumes a lot. Yes, we composers consume a lot of energy for all our equipment! Keeping low, I calculated a cost of €180/month (€2160/year) which, added to the costs already seen, brings us to €3625/year.

Let’s now talk about Spotify , a tool that we can choose to have or not since it is not essential for our work as composers. Personally, I use Spotify but ” I hate it ” because I don’t like the company’s policy, I don’t like how much musicians are paid for each stream since it takes more than a thousand per record to get the same amount you would get from sales. of a single CD! But for us film music composers, Spotify is, alas, a necessary evil. This is because many supervisors and directors frequent it and make playlists there, then publish on Spotifyit is useful for this as it is for us too because it allows us to: – create our own personal playlists divided into thematic areas in which to collect the songs that interest us most – create playlists where we can upload the music we produce to listen to. Spotify is available in a free version (so with all the advertising we can still enjoy the music) but I consider it a gesture of good will to choose the paid version because at least that €99/year subscription is distributed among the musicians who go there. to listen. So now our overall cost is €3724/year.

We come to CrashPlan , an online backup system where we can upload our entire music archive protectedly and not on a dedicated server. The cost is just €108/year and I consider it a fundamental thing. Personally, I spend €100/year much more willingly on CrashPlan than on Spotify or IMDB precisely because it allows me to keep all the material that I could always use even if I had a monstrous crash in my studio that blew up my NAS and all my hard drives! Therefore, adding CrashPlan to the overall costs we arrive at €3832/year.

Another expense to bear is the rent/mortgage with an expense of €6000/year (I kept it very low, then it depends on where you live). This is because if we don’t live at mum and dad’s house, the rent/mortgage is something we have to take into consideration, it’s a figure to enter whether you work from home or rent a special space to make it your studio. And we are at €9832/year of expenses.

Then there is Internet connection since clearly one cannot do without it having to work with files to send to fellow composers, directors and producers. Here it depends on what your managers’ offers are and therefore I generally quantify this expense in €30/month (€360/year) which brings us to €10,198/year of expenses.

Then again there is Distrokid , the system I use to publish on Spotify and all digital stores. With €32/year all included Distrokid allows us to publish everything we want at any time. It’s clear that the earnings from streaming and digital distribution are truly paltry, but it’s important to be there, it’s important that our name is on: iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, because it means we work.

We thus arrive at a final total of € 10,230 /year and here I stop.

So what does all this mean?

Considering that a composer for a project such as an independent film earns around €10,000 as a score bonus in Italy, one might think that by making a film a year one can live comfortably by covering the costs calculated above… In reality, not that’s how it is! This is not the case because then you will also have to live, eat, pay for the costs of the car for example or other expenses not necessarily connected to the activity of a composer. So making one film a year is not enough! Also because I have to invoice that €10,000 and therefore I have to pay a series of taxes. So if I make a film for €10,000 due to Italian tax legislation I actually earn about half of it. Then it is clear that we must organize ourselves to earn more to be safe, and here a huge parenthesis opens up: having to have earnings that are alternative to those deriving from writing and publishing a soundtrack. I must have SIAE earnings, I must have royalties earnings (therefore publish and provide songs to music libraries), have a whole series of so-called “passive” income, that is, which comes in monthly or annually without you doing “anything” (the right to the author is one of these).

If you want to be a freelancer (we composers are such) my fundamental advice is to still have a second job that allows you to have some income allowing you to live your work as a composer in peace and away from small problems that may arise (a film that was promised to you but then skips, for example). I myself combine the activity of a part-time music teacher in school with that of a composer and having this fixed salary allows me to feel comfortable, to be able to manage my activity as a composer by working as I say, in my own time and refusing jobs which in the past I would never have been able to refuse because I would only have had expenses. I honestly tell you that I currently earn more as a composer than as a teacher, however, if a series of studio commitments or projects were to be missed for the most varied reasons (see the recent pandemic years or the current world war upon us) I would still have a sort of “parachute” to protect me. Much also depends on your tax regime. If you have a traditional VAT number you can download some of the expenses mentioned, but if you are in the minimum regime (get advice from your accountant…) no. Of course, if you are just starting out, consider that it will take some time before you start earning, you will have more expenses than earnings and then you will slowly settle down. In conclusion, do not take what is said here as a way to discourage you but rather as a reality check!

I hope that the advice deriving from my personal experience that I wanted to share with you can be useful to you in managing the annual or recurring expenses resulting from your activity as composers.

E così i nostri costi complessivi salgono a 372€/anno.
